The “Madagascar Workshop” convenes faculty and graduate students to discuss their projects on Madagascar. Disciplines represented have included anthropology, history, geography, linguistics, archaeology and filmmaking. The workshop is a place to exchange ideas, receive feedback, learn about each other’s fields, and meet the growing community of scholars interested in Madagascar.
The meeting will include formal presentations and informal discussion centered around thematic sessions. Workshop sessions will take place on Friday October 25th (and possibly Saturday October 26th, depending on the final number of participants). There will be a dinner for workshop participants on Friday evening, October 25th.
The workshop organizers invite participants to present research on any topic related to the study of Malagasy society, language, and people. The workshop is an opportunity to share and discuss new and ongoing research. Potential participants should indicate their interest to Sarah Gould (at MadagascarWorkshop chez gmail.com and submit a provisional title and short abstract by August 15, 2019. A preliminary schedule of speakers and abstracts will be posted on the website by Aug. 30th.
